Digital X-rays

We pride ourselves on providing the safest dental treatment options available, which is why we offer digital X-ray technology in our office.

How Digital X-Rays Work

When taking a digital x-ray, your dentist will insert a sensor into your mouth that will capture the images of your teeth. While this device may look similar to the film used for other dental X-rays, the digital sensor is actually electronic and connected to a nearby computer. After the X-ray is completed, the image will be projected directly onto the computer screen for your dentist to view immediately.

Benefits of Digital X-Rays

Choosing digital X-rays will come with a variety of benefits over the traditional film X-rays:

  • Better Images:With traditional X-rays, it can be difficult to view the image, but digital X-rays can be magnified to provide a better picture of the tooth’s structure.
  • Environmentally Friendly: Digital X-rays are better for the environment than other options, as they don’t require the use of chemicals to develop the images, and your dentist will not need to waste paper or other resources to print them.
  • Less Radiation: The equipment your dentist will use with a digital X-ray will expose you to up to 90% less radiation than a traditional film X-ray.
  • Less Time: Digital X-rays are much faster to process than traditional films. The picture will be developed instantly rather than waiting for a dentist to develop the film of a traditional X-ray.
